Fair Trading Notice

Helen, trading as Helen Walton, Saddle Fitting & Horsewear Repairs, acknowledges her obligations as per the Trading Standards (Fair Trading) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2023, which came into force on 2nd October 2023.

Helen further acknowledges the rules of fair trading as well as the rights of a consumer in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, as summarised below. More information in relation to these can be found by visiting https://gov.gg/tsconsumeradvice.

1. Consumer rights

Helen acknowledes that:

  • any goods she provides must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described
  • any services she provides need to be performed with reasonable skill and care.
2. Clear remedies when consumer rights are broken

Helen must honour your right to reject good provides by her, if (within 30 days of them being provided) you consider them to be unsatisfactory. She must provide a refund upon return of rejected goods. If more than 30 days have passed since the goods were provided, Helen must offer a repair, a replacement or a price reduction on any goods that you consider to be unsatisfactory.

If you are unsatisfied with any services provided by Helen, she must offer to repeat the service and/or to reduce the price charged for the original service.

3. Full, clear and comprehensive information about goods, digital content and services.

Helen must provide all necessary information before you are bound by contract. Please note that every time you and a trader agree to exchange one thing (e.g. money) for another (e.g. goods or services), you are making a contract (regardless of whether it’s written or verbal). The point when you enter into a contract is often, but not always, the same time that you receive the goods or services.

In order to align with the UK-based Society of Master Saddlers members, Helen offers a cooling off period regarding any goods, such as saddles, ordered by you on-site. You may cancel your order up to 14 days after placing the order.

4. An obligation for businesses to trade fairly and honestly

Helen must not:

  • undertake unfair or aggressive commercial practices;
  • mislead her clients via her actions or deliberate omissions;
  • offer unfair terms or unsafe products.
5. A requirement for products to be safe

If Helen becomes aware of any unsafe products she must report them to Trading Standards via https://gov.gg/tscontact.
